Breaker & panel problems
What usually goes wrong
A breaker that trips once when too much is running is working as designed. One that trips again and again, will not reset, hums or feels warm is a warning. Reset it once by pushing the handle fully off, then on. If it trips again, leave it off and call.
Do not remove the panel cover, install a larger breaker or tape a handle on. Those shortcuts hide the real problem and let wiring overheat. Panels near the water also deserve a look for rust and corrosion, especially in garages and basements that stay damp.
When you call, mention the brand on the panel door, roughly how old the house is and whether you plan to add a generator hookup, EV charger or addition. Ask whether a repair or an upgrade makes more sense, and get the estimate in writing.
